For the past 25 years, September has been celebrated as National Recovery month. The focus of the month is to promote the societal benefits of prevention, treatment and recovery for mental and substance use disorders.
Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, effective treatment is available, and people can and do recover. This year’s theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery: Speak Up, Reach Out.” The intent is to encourage people to openly speak up about mental and substance use disorders, and most importantly, the reality of recovery.
At Timberline Knolls, we support all those involved with spreading the word about recovery because we know that true and lasting recovery is possible for everyone. People in recovery can achieve healthy lifestyles, both physically and emotionally, and can contribute positively to their communities.
